The McGowan Love Story

I have said it a million times and I will continue to shout it from the roof tops…I LOVE MY JOB! I met Lauren and Austin back in 2017 when they booked their wedding at the Hanover Tavern (the place I shot my very first wedding, so it’s kinda holds a special place in my heart)! They had the hook up to hold their engagement session at the Squirrels Baseball Stadium, does it get any better or any more Richmond than that?! I will never forget I had all these ideas in my head for their engagement portraits, and then when we arrived, they were doing maintenance on the field, specifically on home plate! I had to quickly, pivot, not panic, and honestly, this was a time when pivoting worked even better!

Lauren and Austin got engaged on the Potterfield Bridge over looking the James River, so we headed down their for the second part of their session! I love these images now even more because the River Rings were brand new and easily accessible, now there is so much plant growth, these shots would not look the same!

Skip forward a few months and they had the most PERFECT snowy day wedding at the Hanover Tavern! It was that gorgeous fluffy snow, also the kind you can make the perfect snowball with, and believe me Austin and his groomsmen did just that!

And this is where I can say how much I really love what I do…they called me when they were expecting baby Myles and I got to see them holding their baby boy in the first few weeks of his life! This week I photographed baby boy #2, Hudson! Check out the perfect kisses Myles put on his cheeks!

I feel so lucky that I get to watch two people fall in love, get married, and grown their family…and this is my job! Not sure it gets better than that!
